Bushi No Te Kai was founded in 2008 by Sensei Peter Larsen who wanted to platform to pass on the karate knowledge he’d gained learning karate up until that point. Over the years we have grown in size and now run classes in Maidstone, Chatham and Tunbridge Wells teaching thousands of students in that time.
More recently we have gained Shibu status with the Mu Ken Kai and Shimbukan Dojo’s in Okinawa allowing us to teach their traditional styles of Karate and Kobudo and giving our students the opportunity to train and grade under Kaicho Hiroshi Akamine.
At Bushi No Te Kai, we believe that martial arts should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or starting fitness level. We take a holistic approach to training that covers three core pillars:
Traditional Karate: Developing body mechanics, power, and discipline through the classical Okinawan syllabus.
Ryu Kyu Kobudo: Mastering traditional weapons such as the Bo staff, Sai, and Nunchaku to enhance coordination and historical understanding.
Combat Fitness: A modern, high-energy approach to striking and conditioning that ensures our students are physically capable and mentally sharp.
